Prime Minister Answers About Selling Hambantota Mega Projects

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe rejected the claims and allegations that the mega projects and infrastructure developed in Hambantota district during the previous regime were sold by the present government. Mr. Wickremasinghe while rejecting this claim as baseless, stated that the policy of the present government is to re-organize and restructure the organizations which run at a loss.

The government also has a policy to create more job opportunities to the youth generation. 

Prime Minister Wickremasinghe made these remarks at an award ceremony held in Colombo yesterday. 

Speaking further he said the present government has taken effective steps and established a strong political stability to take the country forward. He further said measures should be taken to develop the Sri Lanka's market economy. 

The main objective should be to promote the local products in the world market and among the countries of Asian region. Sri Lanka should be made the main commercial hub in the region. The public and private sectors should extend their fullest support to achieve this goal. Mr. Wickremasinghe also said the southern highway will be extended to Hambantota and new highway will be constructed connecting Rathnapura and Pelmadulla. 

Prime Minister Wickremasinghe also emphasized that the government has planned to construct industrial zones covering Diulapitiya, Kalutara and Eheliyagoda. The government also has a plan to construct a golf turf at Iranawila coastal area to promote tourism.
