Fake 'Journalist' At Amaradeva's Funeral Granted Bail

November 17, 2016

The youth who pretended to be a journalist and attempted to take photographs of VVIPs at Pandit W.D. Amaradeva's funeral was released on bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today.

He was released on a surety of Rs 500,000.

His lawyers had said that the youth was suffering from a mental illness, at which the Magistrate, on November 15, ordered the prison authorities to obtain a psychiatric report. However, the report had not been received until the time of the magisterial inquiry.

The Magistrate ordered the mother of the youth to forward her son to a psychiatric, and submit the report on the next date of inquiry.

The inquiry was set to December 1.
