Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa, who took membership of the Sri Lanka Podujana Party, has requested permission from the Colombo High Court to leave the country for three months.

Through a motion filed at the High Court, he has requested permission to leave for the USA from December 10 till March 2 for medical purposes.

He says that he has been receiving treatment for diabetes but has not been there for medical tests in two years.

The request was made over a court case at the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court.

The AG filed objections and the High Court fixed the case for November 25 to hear AG's objections.
