Nine Sri Lankans Serving In Greek Ship Taken Hostage By Yemeni Terrorists

Nine Sri Lankans serving in a commercial vessel have been taken hostage by a Yemeni Terrorist group. 

They were serving aboard attached to a Greek ship named Sheyar Avalon.

The Ministry of Foreign affairs has confirmed the hostage situation. They have informed that ministry is observing the situation and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Yemen has been informed of the matter.

The Sri Lankans were taken hostage at sea between Yemen and Saudi Arabia.  

They have demanded ransom from the company that owns the ship for the release of the 9 Sri Lankans.

However the company has not made an official statement yet.
