Kidney Racket: Warrants Issued Against Two Indians Who Escaped Detention

November 24, 2016

Arrest warrants were issued on two Indian nationals who had escaped from detention after being arrested for involvement in an alleged kidney racket.

Five of the escaped Indians, who were later arrested in Mannar, were produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris. They were remanded till December 7.

The CCD said that an inquiry was being held on their escape.

Eight Indians had been arrested earlier this year for the involvement in the kidney racket. One Indian escaped from the detention centre in Mirihana some months ago. There is suspicion that he has already made his way to India.
