Governmment To Upgrade SLTB

Votes of ministries of parliamentary reforms and mass media, transport and civil aviation, ports and naval affairs were taken up for the debate in house yesterday. 

Deputy minister Ranjan Ramanayake said that a discussion is compulsory regarding the misuse of media freedom by some media outlets. Minister Nimal Siripala Silva highlighted measures have been taken to provide complimentary service for the passengers upgrading the bus and railway transport system in the country. 

He added that 273 SLTB buses have been renovated. The minister also said that 1000 more buses will be bought. 3800 ticketing machines have also been purchased. The SLTB will be network using the cutting edge technology. The provident fund of the SLTB employees will be paid without delay. The minister highlighted that the shortage of human resource at the railway service caused certain issues .
