President Sirisena Surrenders To Bus Mafia

The government has given in to the demands of the private bus owners, who launched a strike against the government's increase of traffic fines.

The private bus owners announced that they will call off the strike action after President Maithripala Sirisena agreed to discuss the matter concerning hike of traffic offenses.

A new committee was appointed to consider the concerns of the bus owners.

However, on December 1, Minister Kabir Hashim categorically said that the government will not give in to various mafias.
