The Government has instructed the Police to strictly enforce the law against persons who blocked roads and obstructed the free flow of traffic during yesterday’s bus strike.

The Police acted particularly to remove containers placed across the Negombo – Colombo main road and steps have been taken to arrest those responsible.

Several incidents of attacks on buses and causing damage to public property have been reported today. Police investigations on these incidents are on way.

The Police will strictly enforce the law against disruption of normal civilian life and causing damage to public property. Those responsible will be arrested soon.
