Basil Rajapaksa Permitted To Travel Abroad Under Strict Conditions

Colombo High Court today allowed former minister Basil Rajapaksa to travel to the US for medical treatment under strict bail conditions.

High Court judge Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne said that he imposed the strict conditions considering the alleged financial fraud for which Rajapaksa has been accused.

In this case he is accused of a financial fraud of Rs 2,991 million for the distribution of roofing sheets.

Rajapaksa was given permission to leave the country on two sureties of Rs 50 million each and another certification surety to the value of Rs 50 million.

He was permitted to travel to the US regarding a separate case yesterday.
