New Programme To Strengthen Small Scale Tea And Rubber Plantations

A programme has been initiated to strengthen small scale tea and rubber plantation. 

The aim of the programme is to empower the people engaged in the sectors. The project is in effect from 2016 to 2021. 

Minister Naveen Dissanayake says 8,500 rupees will be spent for the initiative. 

The government will work on to ensure better markets for the small scale tea and rubber cultivators.

The project will be carried out in eight districts of the country. 

Minister made these comments at a opening of the new project. 

He pointed out that the contribution of small scale tea cultivators to the country's economy is strong. More attention will be paid on uplifting rubber plantation as well.
