Hambantota Port Workers Reject Proposed Settlement

The workers of the Hambantota port who are demanding to be made permanent Sri Lanka Ports Authority employees have rejected a new proposed settlement by the government.

Deputy Minister of Ports and Shipping Nishantha Muthuhettigama yesterday said that a part of the workers could be made permanent SLPA employees while the rest will be made employees of the Chinese company.

However, the workers rejected the proposal and are continuing their protest.
