Joint Opposition To Wear Black Bands In Protest Over Hambantota Incident

The Joint Opposition has decided to wear black bands in every event they participate in protest over the incident at Hambantota on December 10.

The navy was called to disperse the protesters who had blocked the way of two ships and also had occupied the jetty. In the ensuing disturbance, the navy commander, who personally oversaw the operation, allegedly made an assault on a journalist.

The Joint Opposition pointed out that the navy commander had said that he followed orders is dispersing the protest. The JO further said that those who ordered the navy commander must declare themselves.
