National Policy To Ban Child Labour In Sri Lanka Completely

The National Policy on banning child labour completely has granted approval by Cabinet of Ministers  .

The Cabinet also ordered the enactment of the policy. 

The proposal in this regard was tabled by Minister of Labour WDJ Seneviratne.

The policy is also a necessity in order for Sri Lanka to regain the GPS+ trade concession.

Sri Lanka agreed to eliminate child labour at Global Child Labour Conference at the Hague, in 2010. 

There has since been a 50% decrease in use of child labour indicating the ability to eradicate it completely.
