One person was killed in a shooting in Veyangoda, when a group of people were shot at.

The incident occurred near the Veyangoda railway station.

An underworld figure known by the alias Udamwita Samare was killed in the shooting. Another individual who was critically injured was admitted to the Wathupitiwala hospital and later was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.
