Minister W.D.J Senevirathne says the 2,500 salary increase approved by the budget will be given to the private sector employees as well. 

The government has instructed the private employers to grant this allowance to their employees. 

If any employer fails to do this stern legal action will be taken against them. The Ministry of Labour has already appointed a committee to look into this matter. 

It has already received about 400 complains regarding such private institutions.
