World renown Rigid Tyre Corporation (Pvt.) Ltd. (Marangoni of Italy) is to invest Rs. 11.25 billion to build Sri Lanka’s largest fully integrated tyre manufacturing plant in Horana.
On the direction of President, Maitripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wikremesinghe will lay the foundation stone of this mega plant at a stately event held at the BOI Industrial Zone, Wagawatta, Horana on January 5.
Amongst the invitees are Malik Samarawikrama, and many other Cabinet ministers, who will be joined by BOI chairman, Upul Jayasooriya, ministerial secretaries and government officials.
Equipped with the latest technology, this new plant is destined to roll in a new page in the industrial sector of Sri Lanka.
The tyre plant, being the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, is commissioned to manufacture the whole gamut of tyres that roll on the roads, and off it.
In addition to tyre manufacturing, the venture expects to manufacture high density conveyor belts, targeting the global mining industry. Similarly, high pressure hydraulic pipes will also be manufactured to cater to the demand originating from the oil industry.
