Wimal Weerawansa Remanded Till January 24

National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa was remanded till January 24 by Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne over the alleged misuse of state vehicles.

He is accused of misusing 40 state vehicles while he was a minister of the Rajapaksa government.

Weerawansa is accused of handing over vehicles to family members and office bearers of the ministry in an illegal manner and causing a loss of Rs 91 million to the state.

He was arrested today by the FCID after he arrived to give a statement.
