Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Development Mahinda Amaraweera instructed the relevant Ministry officials to utilize the funds allocated to the Ministry through the budget proposals within the first six months of the year.

He further advised the officials to make use of the funds for the development projects of the fishing sector.

Minister also emphasized the importance of the responsibility vested with the relevant officials in this regard.

He requested the officials to carry out the projects without delay.

The projects of this sector should benefit the fishermen society in the country.

In the meantime the projects should be designed in such a way to address the grievances of fishermen society.

This also should solve the existing problems of the fishing sector, he added.
