President Tells Army Commander To Release Keppapulavu Land

President Maithripala Sirisena has spoken to Army Commander A. W. J. C. De Silva to ask him to release land in Keppapulavu to residents.

The Army Commander had assured the President he would do so soon, the Government Information Department said.

 

The instructions to the Army Commander follows a conversation the President had with Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs Minister D. M. Swaminathan.

 Land in Keppapulavu, Mullativu - belonging to residents - is currently occupied by the Army.

Residents have been agitating for its release.
