Motorcycle racer Ananda Wedisinghe has passed away while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Kandy General Hospital, at the age of forty-seven.  

Wedisinghe has been in a state of coma since meeting with an accident at the Nuwara-Eliya Road Race on April 23. His family was preparing to take him abroad for treatment at the time of his death.
