Showery Conditions To Continue Till June 27: Heavy Rains Expected In Kegalle, Ratnapura, and Kalutara  

Showery weather conditions will continue until June 27 due the southwest monsoon conditions, the Meteorological Department said today.

Fairly heavy showers of about 75 mm can be expected at some places - particularly in Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Gampaha, Colombo and Galle districts.

The Meteorological Department also said the possibility of continuing rain in the Kegalle, Ratnapura and Kalutara districts is high.

Fairly strong winds about 50 kmph can be expected over North-central and Uva provinces and in the Matale and Hambantota districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts and at few places in the Uva province and Batticaloa and Ampara districts after 2.00 p.m.

The Met. Department also warned there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers and requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damage caused by lightning.
