'Draft Would Be Shown To Maha Sangha: Amendments Will Cause No Harm To Buddhism' - President

President Maithripala Sirisena assured that the Maha Sanga would be consulted when a draft of the proposed new constitution is prepared. 

The President made this assurance when  he met the Chief Prelates of the three chapters and representatives of the Maha Sangha at the President's House in Kandy, yesterday. 

At the meeting, the President said the proposed new constitution will have no harmful provision to Buddhism. 

He also agreed to meet the Maha Sangha for another meeting over constitution amendments.

He said the ideas expressed at the meetings would be communicated to those drafting constitutional amendments.

Justice and Buddha Sasana Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe was also present at the meeting.
