Tense Situation At North Central Provincial Council: Joint Opposition Members Set Fire To Day’s Agenda

A tense situation arose at the North Central Provincial Council (NCPC) this morning when members of the Joint Opposition (JO) set fire to the day’s agenda, in protest of the newly appointed Chairman of the NCPC.

United National Party (UNP) Councilor D.M. Amaratunge was appointed Chairman of the NCPC on July 18, following a no-confidence motion brought against former Chairman T. M. R. Siripala by 11 councillors.
