The Supreme Court this afternoon dismissed a Fundamental Rights petition filed by Shanil Nethikumara seeking to prevent his arrest.

Nethikumara is alleged to have threatened a witness in the Treasury bond investigations being conducted by a Presidential Commission of Inquiry.

Nethikumara, a member of the family that runs the ‘Salaka’ enterprise had reportedly threatened witness Annika Wijeysuriya for revealing information that connected former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake to the Bond scandal.

Former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, a relative of Nethikumara, stepped down as Finance Minister following the revelations.
