President May Instruct Authorities To Initiate Judicial Process Over Bond Commission Report

President Maithripala Sirisena will instruct the authorities to initiate a judicial process on the Presidential Commission of Inquiry's report on the bond issue, a spokesman close to the President said.

He added that the President was of the view that certain parties had committed an act of large scale corruption through the bond issue.

"The proceedings of the Commission demonstrated the nature of this corruption," he said.

Meanwhile, President Sirisena yesterday said he would make a special statement to media on Wednesday (January 03) on findings of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Treasury Bonds issue.

"I will make a special statement to media on Presidential Bond Commission report and its recommendations on Wednesday, January 3rd," Sirisena tweeted, a short while ago.

The report was handed over to him, on Saturday, by the three members of the commission, in the presence of Presidential Secretary Austin Fernando and the commission's secretary, S. Udugamasooriya.

Sources close to the President said the latter received three copies of the report.
