Fresh Crisis Between Susil And Duminda Dissanayake: UPFA Bigwigs Point Fingers At Each Other Over Election Defeat

February 28, 2018

A fresh crisis has emerged between SLFP General Secretary Minister Duminda Dissanayake and UPFA National Organizer Minister Susil Premajayantha over the result of the last Local Government election.

Asian Mirror learns that Dissanayake has stated Prremajayantha has to take responsibility for the party's poor performance at the Local Government election as the latter was entrusted with the task of coordinating the party's election campaign.

Premajayantha has responded to Dissanayake saying he did ot have enough time to coordinate the campaign as the responsibility was given to him at the last moment.

"I have coordinated the UPFA election campaign during 12 elections and I was unsuccessful only at the last Presidential election. This time I was given the responsibility only at the last moment," Premajayantha had said.

He had also stated that the General Secretary of the SLFP should act with more maturity.

Dissanayake also opposed when Premajayantha and several other stalwarts of the UPFA attempted to form a government with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's group following the last Local Government election.
