Susil Says SLFP Will Work Towards Forming New Govt With Broader Alliance: Raises Opposition To Constitution And Selling Of Assets

Minister Susil Premajayantha said his party, the SLFP, was working towards forming a new government with a broader alliance.

He said they were against dividing the country through a new constitution and selling of national assets.

Making a speech in Parliament, Premajayantha said although he, with a handful of other ministers, attempted to raise their opposition at Cabinet meetings, their collective voice was suppressed.

He also asked who was responsible for the recruitment of Arjuna Mahendran as the Central Bank Governor. Although he did not attack the Prime minister in his speech, he alluded to the conduct of the Prime Minister on several occasions.

He said they were not part of the government at the time Arjuna Mahendran was appointed the Central Bank Government.
