Dayasiri Accepts Receiving Money From Aloysius: "There Are Many MPs Who Received Money: But Won't Name Them'

In a major development, former Sports Minister and a member of 'SLFP 16 group' Dayasiri Jayasekera admitted that he received money from a company from a company owned by Arjuna Aloysius.

Speaking in Parliament, Jayasekera said, "Yes I accept I received money from Aloysius' company. That's for my election campaign."

"There are many other MPs who received money from Aloysius. But I won't name them," Jayasekera said.

The Criminal Investigations Department yesterday informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday that Jayasekera had received Rs. 1 million from a company owned by Arjuna Aloysius.

The CID said Walt and Row company, owned by Perpetual Treasuries owner Aloysius, had paid this money to Jayasekera two years ago.

According to the CID, the former Minister had asked his security officer, Amila Kumara Herath, to encash a cheque (Bearing number 566635) issued by Walt & Row Associates (under the current account number 0073900773).

The money had later been handed over to the Parliamentarian by the same officer.

It was Walt & Row that was at the centre of the penthouse transaction involving former finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
