Three parties have opposed to hold the Provincial Council elections under the PR system (old system) to avoid further delays 

"Except SLFP, JO, JVP all parties agree to conduct PC elections under old system to avoid any further delay," Minister  Mano Ganesnan, the leader of a minor political party, tweeted this morning. 

However, the joint Opposition has repeatedly accused the government of delaying the Provincial Council elections. 

The proposal to hold the Provincial Council election under the old system was mooted as a way of avoiding further delays.
