Joint Opposition Spreads Homophobic Sentiments Targeting Think Equal Programme At Protest Rally In Colombo

A leaflet distributed at the Joint Opposition's protest in Colombo yesterday unabashedly promoted homophobic sentiments.

The leaflet, which criticized the recently launched 'Think Equal' programme, said the unity government was promoting "homosexuality"in government schools.

The Joint Opposition said the 'Think Equal' programme s the culmination of the government's efforts to "destroy Buddhism" in Sri Lanka.

It also alleged that the programme is driven by the Prime Minister's Office.

'Think Equal' progaramme is a worldwide initiative calling for a system change in education to end the discriminatory mind set and cycle of violence across our world. It works with many governments across the world to ensure that non-discriminatory mindset is incorporated into school curriculums.
