Twenty Two Sri Lankan Students Awarded Chinese Government Full Scholarships

Twenty-two Sri Lankan Students Awarded were Chinese Government Full Scholarships during a ceremony held at Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, recently.

Among the 22 Scholarship winners, 10 for Bachelor degree, 04 for Master degree and 08 for Doctoral degree in different fields like medicine, art, environmental science, archaeology and museology, Chinese Language Teaching, international economic and trade, etc.

The awardees will go to China this September to continue their higher education in well-known universities like Zhejiang University, Wuhan University and Peking University and others.

Pang Chunxue, Charge d’Affairs of Chinese Embassy, and Madhawa Dewasurendra, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs, attended the ceremony joined by the winners and their family.

At the ceremony, Pang on behalf the Chinese Embassy made a donation of Rs. 4,889,000 to the Ministry of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs for continuing the annual “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” program, which was first launched in 2016 and aims to reward those academically excellent undergraduate students in Sri Lanka Universities. The Embassy is now implementing this program for the third consecutive year. This year, the donation is doubled and could reward 122 students, following the reward of 54 students in 2016 and 55 in 2017.
