Despite the railway strike, railway supervisors took measures to operate eight trains for this evening from Colombo Fort.

Trains were sent off to Chilaw, Rambukkana, Mahawa, Galle, Avissawella and Kandy this evening. 

Meanwhile, the government has asked retired  railway workers to report to work due to the ongoing trade union action. 

Special security measures have been taken to protect those operating trains today.
