Cabinet Decides To Set Up Special Salaries Commission To Look Into Salary Issues Of State Sector Employees

The Cabinet of Ministers yesterday approved setting up of a Special Salaries Commission to look into salaries and allowances of the state sector employees.

The decision was made following a proposal presented by Finance and Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera.

The commission is expected to present its recommendations to the government in two months.

This comes in the wake of the sudden trade union action launched by railway unions demanding the government to resolve salary anomalies in the railway sector.
