Kusal Janith Ruled Out Of SA Series Due To Injury: No Replacement Will Be Sent: Dimuth Karunaratne Considered For ODI Captaincy During World Cup

Kusal Janith Perera, who sustained an injury in his left hamstring while fielding during the 3rd ODI against South Africa yesterday, has been ruled out of the remainder of the series.

Sri Lanka Cricket tweeted a short while ago stated that no replacement will be sent in place of Perera.

Priyamal Perera substituted Kusal Janith Perera in the field after the latter was taken out yesterday for medical scanning.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that SLC is considering Sri Lanka Test captain Dimuth Karunaratne for the captaincy of the ODI team for the World Cup mid this year.

Karunaratne led Sri Lanka successfully to a Test series win against South Africa recently.

However, Karunaratne has last played an ODI match in 2015 during the last world cup. The SLC's announcement this evening indicates that Karunaratne will not play any official ODI before the ICC World Cup.
