Colombo Fort Magistrate Issues Notice On CEB Senior Management For Conducting Power Cuts Without Informing Public Utilities Commission

Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dassanayake issued notice on the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to appear before the court on April 09 for conducting power cuts without duly informing the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL).

Accordingly, notice has been issued on nine senior officials at the Ceylon Electricity Board, including its Chairman.

The lawyers representing the PUCSL informed the court that the CEB had kept the Commission in the dark about the ongoing power cuts.

Considering their submissions, the Magistrate ordered to issue notice on the senior management of the CEB.

President Maithripala Sirisena recently said a "conflict" between the CEB and the PUCSL has resulted in the current power crisis.
