Death Toll Of Easter Sunday Attack Rises To 359: It Is Now The Single Deadliest ISIS-linked Attack Both Inside Iraq And Syria And Beyond.

The death toll of the Easter Sunday attack has risen to 359, the Police Media Spokesman said this morning.

With the new death toll, the Easter Sunday attack in Sri Lanka becomes the single deadliest ISIS-linked attack both inside Iraq and Syria and beyond.

Nearly 600 people have been injured due to the attack and over 300 are currently receiving treatments in hospitals.

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack while the Sri Lanka government believes that the National Thowheed Jamath, a local terror group, is also responsible for the explosions.

Defence State Minister Ruwan Wijewardena said in Parliament last evening that the initial investigations had revealed that the attack was carried out in retaliation for the Christchurch mosque attack.
