Police lifted curfew in Kalmunai, Samanthurai and Chawalakadai areas at 8 AM as the situation has returned to normalcy. 

Police curfew was announced in the three police division at 5 PM yesterday following a massive raid in the Samanthurai and Saithamardu areas. 

Defence sources said no final decision had been made on whether to re-impose Police curfew in the three areas later today. 

They added that extensive searches are being conducted in the Eastern province by combined forces. 

However, the islandwide police curfew, which was enacted every night since the Easter Sunday explosions, was lifted last evening.
