Parliamentarian Athuraliye Rathana Thera has been discharged from the Kandy Teaching Hospital, our sources said.

They added that the Thera was discharged as his health situation stabilized after medical treatment. He was under the observation of a team of specialist doctors

Rathana Thera was rushed to hospital soon after he ended the four-day hunger strike demanding the removal of Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, Governors Azath Salley and M.L.A.M. Hizbullah.

The Buddhist monk called off the strike when the two governors handed over their letters of resignation to President Maithripala Sirisena.
