UNP Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa said he would contest the upcoming symbol under the 'swan' symbol, as a broad alliance.

At the last two presidential elections, the candidates backed by the UNP contested under the same symbol.

When asked whether the absence of the elephant symbol would be a deterrent to the traditional UNP voters, Premadasa said voters would not be 'politically immature' to pin their hopes on a symbol.

The UNP candidate also added that he would facilitate maximum devolution of power within a unitary country.

"Anyone who agrees with my policy can join hands with me," Premadasa said, adding that he would sign no secret agreements with any group.
