Measures are underway to streamline private security firms, Defence Ministry Secretary Kamal Gunaratne said.

He added that a special mechanism would be introduced to register and regulate private security firms.

He said several factors including paying a minimum wage to officers will be taken into consideration when issuing new licenses and renewing them.
