Supreme Court Expected To Deliver Ruling On FR Petitions Challenging General Election Date Today At 3 PM

The Supreme Court is expected to deliver a ruling on the Fundamental Rights petitions challenging the General Election dates today at 3 PM.

The case was heard a before a five-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Buwaneka Aluvihare, Sisira de Abrew, Priyantha Jayawardena and Vijith Malalgoda.

Petitioners, respondents and intervening parties presented their submissions for 10 days.

Charitha Gunaratne, Patali Champika, Kumara Welgama, Victor Ivan, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, and four other parties filed petitioners have filed Fundamental Rights petitions challenging the Gazette published by the National Elections Commission.
