An eagle, allegedly used for drug trafficking found

An eagle suspected to have been used for drug trafficking operations by underworld figure’ Angoda Lokka’ was taken into the police custody with two suspects from Meegoda, police said.

An air rifle and 10 rounds of ammunition were also taken into the custody. Initial investigations revealed that the eagle was brought from overseas in a boat and the bird was not identified as endemic to Sri Lanka.

The birds are usually used as narcotic carriers internationally.
