Supreme Court Concludes Hearing Of Ranjan’s Contempt Of Court Case

The Supreme Court has concluded hearing of the contempt of court case involving MP Ranjan Ramanayake.

Further clarification of the case is scheduled to be taken on October 21.

Ramanayake was prosecuted for making derogatory remarks on the judiciary and lawyers.

Lawyers appearing on Ramanayake has argued that the Supreme Court has no jurisdiction to hear this rule since general jurisdiction pertaining to Contempt of Court is vested with the Court of Appeal.
