Russian National Staying At Polhena Diagnosed With COVID19

A Russian national who was staying at a tourist hotel in the Polhena area in Matara had contracted the corona virus yesterday (23).

Fifteen Russian nationals, including this person, had arrived in Sri Lanka from the Mattala Airport on August 13 for a visit and stayed at the hotel.

They were scheduled to leave the country today (24) and had previously undergone a PCR test at a private hospital in Matara.

One Russian national was diagnosed with the new corona virus, while 14 others were not diagnosed with the virus.

However, it is learnt that four members of this group of Russians had arrived at a supermarket in Matara in a three wheeler yesterday.

The Russian national who was infected with the new corona virus has been admitted to the Hambantota hospital and the 23 hotel staff members and their families have taken to a quarantine center in the Habaraduwa area, local health officials said.
