Communist Party Opposes BJP's Participation In Colombo Conference

September 19, 2014

The Communist Party of India today criticized the BJP on its participation in the International Conference on Asian Political Parties in Sri Lanka. This criticism comes a day after Vaiko, the leader of the BJP ally MDMK criticized BJP for the participation of two delegates from the party.

The participation by two BJP leaders in the ICAPP will hurt the Tamils, “as the Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa is totally responsible” for the human rights violations by the Army against civilian Tamils in the civil war against the rebel LTTE”, party state secretary D Pandiyan has said while speaking at the three day state Agricultural Labourers Sangam.

The conference began on Thursday in Colombo.

The CPI is a part of the Left Front in India. CPI won just 1 seat out of 545 Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 Indian General Election. In 2009, the party won 4 seats.
