November 26, 2023

The Cabinet has given its approval for a substantial reduction in the price of MOP (Muriate of Potash) fertilizer, commonly known as "Bandi Pohora." The current price, set at Rs. 19,000 per bag, will be slashed to an affordable Rs. 9,000 per bag, according to an announcement by Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera.

The decision to reduce the cost of MOP fertilizer is part of a broader strategy to alleviate financial burdens on farmers and enhance the viability of agricultural practices. Minister Amaraweera emphasized the importance of this initiative in ensuring accessibility to essential inputs for the farming community, contributing to the overall growth and sustainability of the agricultural sector.

Farmers across the country are expected to benefit significantly from the price adjustment, as MOP fertilizer is widely utilized in crop cultivation
