Pandal Collapse on Baudhaloka Mawatha Averted Accidents and Injuries

December 11, 2023

In a fortuitous turn of events, the collapse of a large pandal erected across Baudhaloka Mawatha in front of the Bandaranaike Conference Hall was met without any injuries or vehicular damage. The incident, attributed to strong winds accompanying rain, occurred on a Sunday when traffic was relatively sparse.

Kurunduwatta Police reported that despite the obstruction caused to vehicles traveling from Borella to Tunmulla, no accidents ensued, largely due to the timely response of traffic police officials. Swift intervention ensured the removal of the collapsed pandal amid heavy rain.

Authorities, led by Kurunduwatta Police Station Chief Inspector Aloka Bandara Senanayake, are conducting investigations into the incident.
