Dudley Sirisena Responds to Incident at Kelaniya University: Says He is Undeterred by Disruption & Questions "Unruly Students"

In the wake of the recent tumultuous incident at Kelaniya University, where businessman Dudley Sirisena faced protests during a guest lecture, he has taken to social media to offer a comprehensive response.

Sirisena said he was undeterred by the disruption and recounted his journey from a garage helper in Anuradhapura to a successful entrepreneur with a diversified business portfolio. He defended his achievements, emphasizing their positive impact on job creation and challenging prevailing attitudes toward businessmen in Sri Lanka.

Sirisena asserted his qualifications to deliver a lecture on entrepreneurship and public communication. Despite facing vocal opposition from students, he declared that he successfully conducted a two-hour lecture in front of nearly a hundred students without any interruption, positioning his success in the lecture hall as a testament to his credibility.

Contrary to criticisms, Sirisena highlighted that the number of direct and indirect jobs created through his businesses has surged to one lakh, with almost one thousand five hundred positions occupied by graduates from recognized government universities. He stressed the positive contribution his enterprises make to the country's employment landscape, challenging the negative perception of business leaders in Sri Lanka.

Sirisena delved into the broader societal perspective, criticizing the prevalent tendency in the country to criticize individuals who have accumulated capital. He argued that his decades-long commitment to investing in the country and creating jobs has been misunderstood, urging the educated community to recognize the role of capitalists in national development.
