Tamil Nadu Police Bust Smuggling Ring, Seize 364 kg of Ganja Meant for Sri Lanka

Tamil Nadu Police apprehended three individuals from Nagapattinam district, seizing a substantial quantity of ganja destined for Sri Lanka. The enforcement action, conducted on Sunday, resulted in the confiscation of over 364 kilograms of the illicit substance.


The arrested suspects have been identified as K. Sathiyaseelan (37) from Velankanni, M. Mahendran (38) from Naluvedhapathi, and T. Sugumar (29) of Pushpavanam. Nagapattinam Superintendent of Police, Harsh Singh, affirmed to IANS that the trio had orchestrated plans to transport the contraband to Sri Lanka via the sea route, utilizing a fiberglass boat, which was also seized during the operation.


The narcotics seizure and subsequent arrests were made under the vigilant efforts of law enforcement agencies, underscoring their commitment to combating drug trafficking activities in the region. The Vettaikaraniruppu Police have initiated legal proceedings against the accused trio under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
