Weather Alert: Sri Lanka Braces for Thundershowers and Strong Winds Today

Sri Lanka anticipates thundershowers across multiple regions, notably the Western Province. Scattered showers are expected in the Eastern and Uva provinces, as well as the Polonnaruwa and Matale districts. Towards evening and nightfall, the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, alongside Galle, Matara, and Nuwara-Eliya districts, may experience showers or thundershowers.

Accompanying these precipitation patterns are strong winds, anticipated to reach speeds of 30-40 kmph in various provinces and districts, including the Northern, North-central, North-western, Uva, and Eastern provinces, as well as the Hambantota district.

Mariners are advised to exercise caution as showers or thundershowers may affect sea areas extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle, with north-easterly winds ranging from 20-30 kmph. In specific sea regions, wind speeds may surge to 45-50 kmph, potentially causing fairly rough sea conditions.
